Weird Stuff

Hey, do you ever have those nights where you rabbit hole on the internet? By rabbit hole, I mean you start off searching one subject and keep finding others to click on, it can be incredibly insane, addictive and interesting! Tonight I was looking at this lovely book I obtained at  the library.

This lead me to looking up fairy tale artists such as Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac. I found Dulac's art on Pinterest and found this beautiful peice

Edmund Dulac “Abysm of Time”

So of course I had to add a Fairy Tale board to my other 66 boards on my Pinterest site. (lol yes...I know I have a problem) Upon searching faiy tales on Pinterest I came across something quite odd and my morbid curiosity got the best of me.I'll let you click here needless to say, it's creepy eh? I clicked on the site the image was linked to (See where this rabbit hole thing is going?) And fell down further to find this morbidly intriguing site!

If you have a sense of morbid curiosity, such as myself, go ahead and click on it...I dare ya!

Halloween Clearance makes a Goth on a Budget very happy!

I know I haven't been been updating here, terrible me. Life has gotten in the way, or lack there of one. My days have been up and down and all over the place! But I find time to make a video or two and enjoy some after Halloween Shopping...Halloween Clearance is a wonderful thing! As I mentioned earlier in this vlog, Halloween is the BEST time to collect Gothy things for your home as well as pieces for your wardrobe. I'm not above using Halloween costumes as gothy outfits. I know that Goth elitists would most likely turn their nose up at that, but I don't care! It's what I can afford, and what I like! Goth on a Budget right?!  One thing I hoped to obtain after Halloween was a hooded cloak. I was feeling as though that was a lost cause for a while, as I scoured the thrift store racks after Halloween. So many stores put their Halloween merchandise away and it was so sad! Yesterday though, I was able to fine one though! There it was at Kmart, of all places, a black, crushed velvet looking cloak with a hood, $24.99 and 75% off! So it came to $6.25....Goth on a Budget SCORE!!

I'm so excited!! It's cozy!! (more photos later)

Here are some of my Halloween Clearance finds and Halloween Socks I've found this year.

My lovely new bat necklace found or $1.43!

Not really Halloween persay, but way awesome!

Long Live Halloween!

I just want to gripe for a minute about how fast stores are shutting down the holidays. You put items out so early and then take them away early and go on to the next holiday. Halloween was here and there was some great stuff in the stores and now, 3 days after the 31st stores are tearing down Halloween! This is quite sad indeed. Even neighbors are taking down their decorations.  I have to admit, I'm a lingerer. I hold onto the holidays as much as I can. It makes me sad when there is nothing to look forward to or to look at to make me smile. So long live Halloween! I will enjoy it always, and live it each day!

Halloween Fun!

I hope everyone is having a goulishly good time this lovely month of October! I wish it would last longer, one month is not long enough, especially when the stores shove aside the Halloween stuff and start with the Christmas, Oy Vey! I love Christmas too but come on! But alas I still enjoy the sights and sounds of Halloween. I'm a total shutterbug so I take photos and videos every time I hit a store with Halloween stuff! I giggle with glee and run the Halloween section. Here are just a few of the cute and spooky things I found.

Thrift, Cheap stuff, Dollar Stores, Garage Sales, Hints of Halloween OH My!!

I've been traveling around, with the bits of money I have here and there, keeping my peepers open for anything black, purple, or Halloweeny. I've been collecting little treasures, here and there to add to the gothy decor of my room. Purple and Black are my favorite colors and so they don my room proudly. I've gotten several compliments on my room and that makes me smile. I'll be doing a room tour video again soon. The past couple of days I've been out garage saleing, thrifting and Dollar Storing. I was THRILLED to see that Big Lots was beginning to put up their Halloween items!

I have to admit I'm totally jealous of my Instagram friends who are finding Halloween items in thrift stores already. I have yet to see any :( I must be patient. I did find a few things at Garage Sales though. One particular find that made me giddy today was these Halloween stickers that I picked up for 50 cents!!!

The Dollar Tree has a smidgen of Halloween stuff, some creepy things. I picked up a rat and a bat. I'll be editing and uploading my haul soon to my Youtube Channel.

Gothy Room Decor!

I'm very excited and proud to say that I have now transitioned my room back to goth! Its comforting and reminds me that this dreadful summer will soon be over and I'll have my beloved fall back. *sigh* How I long for the cool, dreary, overcast days, filled with changing leaves, pumpkins, warm drinks, fall walks kicking up leaves and ah yes...Halloween sales!!! I miss Halloween so very much that I delved into some of my Halloween decorations to decorate my room. I just finished a project that can easily turn your closet doors to gothy in a snap! My room is quite small so I do what I can to make it feel bigger, by organizing it as much as I can as well as decorating it cool. (I'll post a video of my room soon).

Use Black Contact Paper to cover closet doors.

Print out some of your favorite Goth pictures. The frames are wall stickers form the Dollar Store

World Goth Day and more Gothy Crafts

My WGD was uneventful. There were absolutely no events around where I live and things were hectic at home so I just dressed up and went shopping. Here's my outfit.

Dress was a $1.29 Thrift Find
Corsette Belt $2          After Halloween Sales

She's Crafty

I've been pretty much non-stop delving into creating things. My craft desk is always filled up with things I'm either working on, or going to work on some day. I swear I have to clean it every few days because it get's so messy with my ideas and projects!

lol Some of this stuff doesn't even belong on here!

Here is what it looks like when it's clean

The key to coming up with great Gothy accessories is RECYCLE! RECYCLE! RECYCLE!

I recently discovered that I can take one item of jewelry and turn it into another one. So I've been turning big earrings that I'd never wear, into necklaces. Here are 3 that I made.

I still exist

Yes Goth on a Budget and I, Angel Leo still exist. Just been busy doing a whole lotta something and nothing and being sick blah :(

Happy World Goth Day (May 22)!! This is cool, and this will be my first, because I wasn't aware of it before but who on Earth had the idea to have this in Spring almost Summer with hot weather!!? That's insane, considering most goth clothing is quite warm, at least mine is but I'll come up with something not too hot hopefully.

More Craftsessories!

So sometimes I look at other places for inspiration, mostly because I'm looking at things I'd love to buy but won't be able to afford. Bad habit. But it does inspire me to say, "Hey, maybe I can make one for myself!" I really love a lot of the accessories at Kreepville666.com. One in particular caught my attention...

It's adorable! But alas I cannot afford it. If you can go ahead and click on the link and head on over there to see all their awesome stuff! As for me, I took matters into my own hands and cheered myself up by creating my *own version for myself. I'm pretty darn happy how it turned out!

*For my own personal use NOT to be sold as the original design belongs to Kreepsville666

More Crafty Fun

I've had a lot of free time on my hands lately so I've been having fun creating my own accessories. The key to affordable crafting is to collect, collect, collect! By that I mean, any thing you come across that can be used to potentially create something, keep it! I can't tell you how many scraps of  ribbon I've kept for future projects. Here are some things I recently created.

Simple black headband with added gothy items
Coffin and Skull face made with Polymer clay

Used these 3D glasses to make fun fashion glasses
Bow made of Polymer Clay
Coffin Earrings made of Polymer Clay

Been sick...

'Ello....
I have been gone because I was sick for several days. NO energy whatsoever, even typing was an effort so blogging was not gonna happen. But I'm back now! I'm happy to say my Skeleton Hands Necklace (as mentioned below) arrived! I just realized those photos are on another computer...will post them tomorrow.  And now just a little photo to say...

Makeup DOES make a difference!

DIY Accessories

I can't afford to go out and spend money on fun, cute, trendy or gothy accessories so what do I do when my cash is low? Make my own! The other night I was searching through old pics I saved and came across a sticker that I scanned. I love this sticker! My sister and I collected stickers when we were kids and this was one of my favorites. I guess I still had a weird, twisted sense of humor and taste when I was a kid too lol.

So I was thinking...ya know, this would make a great pin. As well as a hair clip. So I got printed out a few and got my laminator out. Side note, a laminator is a must have for any crafty person! I'm so glad I have one! So I shrunk the size of the graphic down to a smaller size, laminted them and then glued a pin to the back and a claw hair clip to the back of the other. And voila! Instant cute and crazy accessory! Please feel free to use this image if you'd like to make your own. (Although I wouldn't suggest selling them, as I don't know the copyright laws according to the sticker manufacturer. So this is just for fun for you or for a gift for someone).

Wish Lists

If you can't afford stuff....which is most of the time for me, at least you can wish for it right? I love the Ebay collections because it allows you to save the things you really like, that way if you can afford them later you'll know where to find them. It's kind of like bookmarking or pinning if you will. I also look at things for inspiration. I'm the type of person who looks at something and says, "I can make that."  For example, Kreepsville666 has some really awesome stuff but I can't afford it right now, so I look at their accessories and get some ideas for what I could make on my own. Like this cute meat cleaver pendant. It looks like something fun to make. I could definitely try. I see making it out of polymer clay and then making hair clips or a pin. So if you need it but can't afford it, and you have the means to create, then try your hand at making yourself some fun accessories!

And more inspiration from:

I try to improvise with what I have. When I bought my Death Note figures I decided to make little treats for L out of clay. It was quite the project but I was amazed I was able to create such small, detailed things.
