Goth on a Budget get's free room decor!

What's the next best thing to getting gothy stuff for cheap? Getting it free! Fortunately I was able to acquire 4 wonderful goth decor items from friends. If you have friends who want to give things away, hey, take them! Especially if it's Halloween stuff (which I will be on the lookout for this spring and summer during garage sales.) Here are the items I received.

Hello Gouls & Beasties!

I still do exist! Just been, I admit, extremely lazy about updating this vlog. I have been elsewhere, YouTube-ing and Tumblr-ing.

DIY is Perfect for a Goth on a Budget

Happy October!!!

If you're like me...you're broke a lot of the time. Sometimes it gets me down but other times it get's me inspired. If I can't afford what I want, I see if I am able to make it myself. I've recently been in a huge DIY mood! There are so many wonderful gothy and Halloween things out there to purchase! Unfortunately purchasing is not in my realm of things I can do right now! So when all else fails, or in this case when you're penniless, Do it Yourself!! Grab your tape, scissors, glue, scraps of material, sewing box, etc and let your creative juices flow!

Here are some DIY projects I've made recently
Paper Candle Lanterns: Drawn, with a flame-less tea light inside

These one's are Print Outs

Made these bottles last year
Printed out labels on the computer, used bottles and jars from home and put water and food coloring in them
And....
My current pride and joy DIY (just made today)

Baby Fester! He only cost me 75 cents to make! Goth on a Budget Score!

Hooray for Fall!

It's the most wonderful time...of the year!!
Not only is fall approaching with it's glorious and gloomy overcast, days, but Halloween stuff is coming to stores! You know what that means! It's that magical time of year that every goth dreams about where you can find all the spooky, creepy home decor items that you love for your every day needs! No one else but us get's that. So here's to all you Halloween loving people and those who love creepy things. This...is OUR time.

Dreaming of Halloween *sigh*

Here are just a few of the things I've found in stores so far. I know it's early yet, but never too early for me when it comes to Halloween.
The first Halloween items spotted this year at Big Lots. I gasped and stopped in my tracks.

Even grocery stores are getting into the spirit. These cuties are found at Safeway.

These carriages are fit for a Halloween Princess! (Safeway)

Fun stuff discovered at Winco

Good old Value Village is can always be expected to be ripe with Halloween Galore!

Michael's has some AMAZING things this year.

Joann's has a beautiful selection of Halloween socks!
It's still early yet, there are many stores left to explore and so many that haven't put out there Halloween stuff yet. So I'm quite excited to see what's in store this year for my creepy little heart to jump with glee!

Can't afford all the beautiful creepy, spectacular stuff in stores?
It's ok, I'm right there with ya. There are SO many things I'd love to get this time of year, especially a lot of the lovelies found at Michael's that can get pretty pricey. But alas that's why I take so many photo's, because if I can't have it, at least I can have a picture of it. There are always thrift stores, dollar stores, perhaps a few lingering garage sales and other discount stores where you can find affordable, lovely Halloween items to tickle your dark little heart. And remember...there's always Halloween Clearance!!! So don't fret little Goth on a Budget, there's Halloween fun available for all, you just have to know where to look and keep your eyes open for those diamond in the rough thrift finds!

I'll be back again, with more lovely finds and photos of Harvest and Halloween haunts as well as some of the fun finds I find along the way. Feel free to comment and share any tips on saving money this time of year or stores that are starting to put out their Halloween merchandise. I'd love to hear them!

Halloween Blues & New Hair Color

I am truly jonesing for Halloween!! *cries* It seems other states have stores that I don't have here that are starting to sell Halloween items early (no fair) lol Alas I must wait until the balmy, awful days of summer end and we roll into the glorious days of autumn.

On the lighter side, I've colored my hair again! Yay! Here's how it looks.

Colorful, Creative and still Gothy

I've been experimenting with color again. Just because you like gothy things, doesn't mean you have to be all dark all the time. I love mixing colors along with black.

Also, save money by creating your own unique lip colors with lip gloss and eyeshadow!

Don't be afraid of color in your room either. I recently acquired some green boxes and was finally able to use one of my Halloween Clearance finds to DIY goth them up.
Also obtained some extra mini-drawer storage for my craft desk and of course I had to go through my gothy craft do-dad's and goth that up as well.
Foam stickers are from Rite Aid Dollar section and eyeballs are available at Dollar Tree during Halloween

Let's Talk Makeup

When it comes to gothy makeup it's all about transformation. Taking your plane pallete (face) and transforming it into something you cool, creepy, dark, unusual, winged, etc. You get the point. How can you do this and still remain within you budget? Shop smart.
Makeup brushes are your friend. I never new this so much until this year. I was using regular old eyeshadow applicators, and doing alright with them but I was fortunate enough to receive an awesome makeup brush set for Christmas. But makeup brushes don't have to break your budget. They are awesome tools that you can get for pretty cheap. ELF brand sells makeup brushes in different styles from $1-3. You can also find some decent ones at your local Dollar Tree. As far as eye shadows go, there are many bargain outlets such as Big Lots, Grocery Outlet, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Dollar General (or whatever you may have where you live). Even at your local drug store, don't be afraid to try "cheaper" makeup brands such as NYC or Wet n' Wild.  Basically start collecting an arsenal of brushes and eyeshadow singles and or pallets so you have a variety of choices to play with. As always, Halloween is a great time to snag some of the fantasy makeup that is only available seasonally, great time for goth's to add some awesome colors to their collection. (Halloween Clearance!!)
If you are a creative person like me, you can start thinking about doing your makeup as drawing, painting and coloring.  Once I did this, applying makeup become so much less intimidating as well as easier and more fun.  Here's my basic go to gothy makeup.
How to do a basic goth makeup look
Draw a simple winged shape with a black eye pencil or even with your brush dipped in black eye shadow. Then underline your eye with black, you can go half way or continue all the way and close the eye.
Start filling in the upper corner with black then color in any other color you wish and blend in the black from the corner with this color. Be sure to connect your lines from your eyeliner below the eye, up into your wing shape. This gives a more uniform look.

And there you have it. Transformation! ~_n
